Hi Louie,

I think that Amati would rather see Alcatel fall on their face rather than help them out. Alcatel is their competitor with their own brand of DMT. What happens to Amati if Alcatel gets ANSI standard DMT and steals Amati's business? Amati doesn't want to make a living off of Alcatel's royalties paid to them for DMT patents. They want to have as much market share as possible, IMO. The less of the pie Alcatel has, the more there will be for Amati and the other pure ADSL companies. If Alcatel was selling Amati's modems then that would be another story.
