Bob, Yes that is the way, look at how cheap you can get a waterjet table or plasma table now. The machine is good for 0.001" repeatability not sure the wood or needs to be. Still need to make sure you comp the bit as it wears/dulls, no different then milling. Just need to measure twice. Did they use a laser that made a 3D model of rough out to capture the dimensions?
