Let us be honest here. Tariffs are being implemented to raise revenue the Federal Government desperately needs. That is all.
The revenue raised by tariffs will be more than offset by the revenue lost due to a recession, which by now is looking more and more certain.

Trump will end up presiding over a deficit that breaks through the $2T threshold like it was made out of tissue paper.

All the hallmarks of a 2020 economic debacle without a global pandemic.
