I have long-term charts going back 60 years. I thought a while back that the coming shake-up in technology and semiconductors could be similar to 2000 to 2002. Once the competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) started to run out of money in 2000 and default on their trillion-dollar debt in 2001, more than half the demand for chips would disappear. This time, China would be the cause, They were buying 200 billion dollars a year in excess demand for chips and computing equipment, a figure similar to that of the CLECs. This bubble ran for twice as long as the previous one associated with the telecom deregulation act of 1996. One could see large rallies since the fall in demand will be down the road and the companies will beat the numbers.
