The Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE) is having their annual conference at Anaheim, CA, May 31 to June 4, 1998. For those of you who are interested, Zsolt is giving the keynote address tuesday morning entitled "Commercialization of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites" with a Plenary Session after at 12:00 noon on the "Affordable Carbon Fiber Market". Panelists in the Plenary will include Jon Devault from Aldila, Tony Roberts from Grafil, Jim Burns from Hexcel, Lance Hill from SGL, Tom Lemire from TOHO, Steve Carmichael from Toray, and Andrea Dry from Zoltek. Andrea is a very smart young lady whom I regard highly.
For a very small partial list of papers given (actually the subjects):
Advancing the use of composites in the oil field: Carbon fiber composite rotors for biotechnology and flywheel applications; Use of advanced composites in olympic archery arrows: Cost competative Carbon-based passive electronic thermal management: International market trends in high performance fibers and composites; Planes, bridges, and automobiles: challenges and lessons learned about advancing composite materials and processing: Battery applications for everyone: Manufacture and assessment of 3-D woven turbofan compressor fan blades:
To name a few of hundreds. Some sessions are closed, meaning they require a DD2345 form filled out and approved. Some technology falls under ITAR, meaning it is export restricted, hence the need for the form. If anyone wants more details, contact myself and I can provide more details.
I plan to attend, as always.
Regards
Bill
