Interesting bits on SIMO.....

The US is responsible for only 7% of the global Android phone market (SIMO isn't in iPhone).

In 2023, the United States represented approximately 7.32% of the global Android smartphone market in terms of units sold. This calculation is based on the following:

  • USA Android smartphone sales: Around 61.75 million units (43% of total U.S. smartphone sales of 143.6 million).

  • Global Android smartphone sales: Approximately 843.6 million units (74% of total global smartphone sales of 1.14 billion).

The market share was derived by dividing U.S. Android sales by global Android sales and converting it to a percentage.

The US represents 28% of the non-Apple PC and notebook market

The United States represents approximately 28% of the global non-Apple PC and notebook market in terms of units sold. This estimate is based on the following data:

  1. U.S. PC Shipments: In 2024, total PC shipments (excluding tablets) in the U.S. were projected to reach just under 70 million units 5.

  2. Global PC Shipments: Worldwide desktop and notebook shipments for 2024 were approximately 250 million units 6.

  3. Apple's Share: Macs accounted for about 17% of the U.S. PC market and 9% of the global market, meaning non-Apple PCs dominate the remaining share 1 4 5.

By excluding Apple's share, non-Apple PCs account for around 58 million units in the U.S. (83% of 70 million) and roughly 228 million units globally (91% of 250 million). Dividing U.S. non-Apple shipments by global non-Apple shipments gives a market share of about 28%.

I just saw on TV that 38% of US PCs are made in China. So......perhaps 17% or so of SIMO's PC and notebook sales may have China tariff issues, while others are destined for non-US countries or not made in China (smaller tariff). Sucks, but not too bad.
