"We've moved on from the Keystone XL project," said South Bow spokesperson Katie Stavinoha in a statement. South Bow is the company that TC Energy spun off to handle its pipeline business.

No Canadian, or even American company would build a pipeline from Canada to the US unless the US government were willing to provide indemnification of all costs in the event the US government imposes their currently threatened 10% oil tariffs or worse.

Maybe The Trump Organization is interested in building and owning a 1,900 km oil pipeline.

Alberta oil producers need to focus on expanding ocean transport of crude oil in order to sell oil to all possible customers, but those investments will be damped down by current low oil prices. The EU is interested in an oil and LNG deal with Canada.

In a statement, Lisa Baiton, president and CEO of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, said "Our goal is to diversify our markets for Canadian products and tariff-proof our country."
