Anybody remember Heinz Blasnik -- changed his nick here to pater tenebrarum, probably an anagram of something interesting. Great student of history, expert Austrian economist, wise beyond his years. He passed away a few years ago, I believe from what was reported on SI.
Anyway, he commented numerous times about the tail end of democracies, about what happens. Common outcome is the last generation in power loots the treasury, sticks it to the elderly, and often the gov't morphs into authoritarianism.
That's exactly what we have -- the fraud and grift is astonishing. Remember those who squealed that Hillary Clinton's foundation was 'pay to play' but are somehow comfortable with a grift that is easily 1000x or 100000x larger, with sights set to destroy he SS pensions earned by 70 million Americans, and every other institution who's basis revolves around being world leaders in science, medicine, the environment, protections for citizens in work and otherwise (we weren't actually anywhere close to first here), national parks. All being looted, just as Heinz predicted.
This is like Joann's Fabrics, purchased as a profitable going concern, employing tens of thousands, no debt, turned into a debt ridden shell and killed by opportunists using a warped and exploitative aspect of capitalism. A few extracted millions or billions, and 20000 lost their jobs.
That's exactly what is happening at the WH level, loot and destroy. The US being world leaders is being short circuited as looting guts the future. The cultists on SI celebrated this as genius, but it's just a grift on a world historic epic level, a patronage gov't where bribes through doge/trump coin or whatever is mandatory to get an audience. It's the exact sort of BS the colonists threw off 250 years ago. Back to the future.
90+ percent of the GOP is complicit. Their cult members heads will spin as it wobbles and crashes, and they'll flock to their temple of FAUX 'news' for the salve that keeps their attention focuses on who to hate, who to blame, and it won't be the corrupt grifters at the center. Will they ever wake up? No, if history is any guide, they are too ignorant and incapable of even the slightest neuron of critical thinking, they live daily with cognitive dissonance (law and order party voters, omg...).
Between now and then, lots will make money on bounces, etc. But our future is being mortgaged as they shorten the time before China dominates by at least twenty years. Baby Boomers dominate Clowngress, all those old creepy guys, in abject and absolute servitude and obeisance to their master, the one who speaks like a 3rd grader because that's all he's got. |
