2020 is about the time 24/7 5 days started. All of the mag 7 trade this and most if not all of the largest companies do as well/

Overnight futures are no longer a guess, they remain tied directly to their underlying ETF now.

The liquidity over night is much lower making it easier for things to move.

The black is regular open, the gray is overnight.
