Brumar, that "Golden Dome" project sounds a lot like Reagan's SDI, a.k.a. "Star Wars."
It's a nice idea, but it seems "Star Wars" never got off the ground because it was too impractical and costly to implement.
Instead, we focused more on tactical missile defense such as the widely successful Patriot missile defense systems.
By the way, there's a difference between strategic missile defense, which is what SDI was supposed to be, and tactical missile defense, which is what the Patriot is.
It's also the difference between Israel's Iron Dome and Trump's desire for a "Golden Dome." Any comparison between the two falls short because of that.
Iron Dome works because it is custom-tailored against rockets that Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthi camel-fukkers typically launch. Those rockets are MUCH different than intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Moreover, Israel is a much smaller country than America, so Iron Dome only has to defend a much smaller area. "Golden Dome" has to defend the third largest nation in the world. That's kind of tough.
But hey, if the Muskperger wants to try and build this "Golden Dome," I'm all for it, despite his record of overpromising and underdelivering. It won't be the first time we tried to implement such a system.
Of course, this project runs completely counter to Musk's DOGE goals, but hey, everything about the Trump regime is self-contradictory ...
