Nobody in Canada seems willing to address the underlying basics - but they may pay for it the rest of their lives. This isn't about the US or "elbows up."

1. Only about 32% of Canadian exports to the US are energy, and about another 8% are raw materials

2. The other 60% are manufactured goods, which the US used to make for itself and could easily do so again.

3. Canada cannot support its own standard of living, but massively imports from the rest of the world, for everything including phones, computers, consumer goods, the whole gamut.

4. About 10% of the total US trade deficit is with Canada, and Canada takes those surplus dollars & uses them to buy its standard of living from the rest of the world.

5. Some of the "lowest hanging fruit" for the US to reindustrialize and reduce trade deficits, is what is currently imported from Canada, particularly manufactured goods.

6. By stopping the bleeding on its trade deficits, the US would wipe out the deficits with Canada, which would leave Canada with no way to pay for the standard of living it imports from the rest of the world.

7. This is existential for Canada, if the US stops giving Canada close to $100 billion a year in surplus dollars, Canada economically collapses, and this is what Trump discussed with Trudeau.

8. If Canada is to survive without its diet of US dollars, it must either make more for itself, or it must redirect its domestic manufacturing to make more for the world of what the world wants, to pay for the imports.

9. Canada is paying ZERO attention to these simple economics, and is instead caught up in a domestic frenzy of "elbows up" and screaming anger & hatred towards Americans.

10. As an American, the more "elbows up" bullshit I hear, the faster I want to return the manufacturing jobs to our Heartland, which will end the deficits, Canada's supply of US dollars - and Canada's national standard of living.

11. Canada is an independent, sovereign nation or it is not. The Leafs have to make up their minds. If they want true independence, they need to be on a national emergency program to reform their economy & productivity to where they can pay for their own standards of living either through domestic production, or through competitively producing goods for the rest of the world.

12. It is very difficult to take seriously any Canadian who doesn't understand this. Forget us, fix yourselves, for your own good. Display agency.
