The fires in northeast BC are now all under control for now, but there is a new one that just sparkied on the Chilcotin. It is out of control and has already consumed 20 sq km.

In some ways our best weapon against wildfires is how sparsely populated BC is. Most of the fires never even approach humans or infrastructure, though of course the smoke can still kill people that are located far away from the fire itself.
