Rumor has it that Taiwan is run by way of elections. Ipso facto, the local yokels can vote themselves into servitude to the goons in Peking if they choose to do so.

They haven't so chosen or it would have happened already.

In decades past, I have listened to martial music and it can be stirring. But I'm well aware of the costs, carnage and horrors of bygone wars. So I'm largely unmoved by propaganda to march and murder like fancy chimps.

For a couple of decades the mass synchronized military marching and stirring music Made in China combined with weaponry displays and the mass displays of individuals in Olympic games and other gatherings as mere dots in a matrix to the glory of the collective have been interesting. They show a concerning attitude to individuals.

Watching the rows and ranks of frightened people sitting looking straight ahead as Hu Jintao frog matched out of there by emperor Pooh Xi was like seeing Kim the Fatter 's terrified citizenry cheering and clapping and crying in ecstacy at his presence, or else.

Saddam was able to have his cabinet sitting bolt upright, hands on the table, terrified of being taken out and shot. Or simply shot on the spot if he so choose. His hideous sadistic son Uday was even more extreme.

Here's an idea for the mainland thugs. They could offer to pay for a referendum in Taiwan. " Shall we hand ourselves over to Peking to rule us as just another province or carry on as we are? Shall we carry on as we are or change our constitution to be independent of China and delete the part that says we are in charge of Mainland China? Shall we conquer China and take over everything other than Hong Kong that was British?

I think those questions could be given simple yes or no answers.

It would be fun too.

A few other questions could be added. Should we spell Peking like that or Beijing? Should we transfer the islands right by China to China? That question could be decided by those living on the islands if it's a close vote. Should we beg Japan to take us over again? How about making Mqurice emperor to decide such things if split votes. He says he'd be an excellent emperor, unbiased, wanting VVVs and vast success for both Mainland and Taiwan people.
