In July 2020 there was a data breach of customer info at Ledger. I believe that was a database of names, addresses, email addresses, etc. of customers that had contacted Ledger directly for orders or support. This was the source of many phishing attempts, mainly by email but most recently by attackers sending unsolicited Ledger devices (corrupted) to physical addresses.

The simple rule for Ledger Nano security is NEVER EVER give anyone your 24 word passphrase, no matter how legitimate they may seem, because Ledger never does this. And there is a "genuine check" that verifies authenticity of Ledger devices when you first connect to Ledger Live.
