My pacemaker is almost two years old. I did not think it would survive an EMP. I have gotten two MRI,s since I received the pacemaker. No problem except for the special effort required before the MRI. In person appointment to completely check the lCD (have defibrillator + pacemaker) within 30 days of MRI; then across hall from MRI machine nurse puts ICD into safe mode; MRI and finally restore ICD to operational settings. The safe mode/restore takes longer than the MRI. I have been told that even the newest pacemakers cannot withstand the new highest power MRI machines on high power.
