As soon as Brenda became the Dem nominee, she took the lead over Trump in the polls and even rattled Donald in their only debate. The public initially supported her because they did not want Trump as President again. The public gave Brenda every benefit of the doubt initially.

Trump won the independent and moderate vote by default because Brenda was perceived as not being up for the challenge. In short: Brenda was very short on substance and the little bit that was heard was not well received.
