Au contraire, your honor; I believe it was purposefully written using wording designed to obfuscate - but not incur liability for being legally misleading. I did nothing but corporate defense work during my career (so-called), and in my experience even the most poorly-run companies don't release a PR on a subject of this magnitude without running it past an attorney. You yourself stated that "most people don't pay close attention to words like this," and that is precisely why it was worded as it was.

PS: "I know you're a lawyer... ." EX-lawyer - [mercifully] retired, not disbarred
