Hi Jim!

Annual report time! Here are some things I found interesting.

Beacon Power to begin field trials of its 20CI1000 Flywheel Energy Storage System in March 1998. 11 customers including 6 cable television providers, 2 electric utilities, 1 wireless and 2 telephone companies.

SatCon is discussing additional products with Applied Materials including a new-generation motor for a wafer carrier system. Supposedly this has already been successfully tested. Also looking for additional applications for the Century 1 ISAM components.

Delivery of their PEBBS for production electric vehicles will begin in 1998. Additionally, SatCon is working with a major automotive manufacturer to replace their voltage regulators and rectifiers with a "Power Smart" motor controller. General Motors has placed an order for a turbine power module derivative.

Expect to introduce a new high-performance compact motor in March 1998. Custom-designed an advanced motor for Rapistan to be used in automated guided vehicles.

Mentioned the air conditioning deal with United Technologies but they also are working with a major Japanese corporation to develop a 100000 rpm, 90 hp motor drive system for industrial compressors.

Discussing follow up activity with the Navy regarding PEBBs.

Still investigating acquisitions.

Looks to be an EXCITING year!! Hope both our folks make lots of $$$.

Spinning up!
