It's due to vandalism.

Examples of incidents reported:

  • Swastikas and the word "Nazi" scratched onto a Cybertruck: In March 2025, a Tesla Cybertruck parked in Brooklyn, New York, was vandalized with swastikas and the word "Nazi" etched into the doors.
  • Swastika sticker and "Musk" written on a Tesla: Another incident in Brooklyn involved a Tesla with a swastika sticker on it and the word "Musk" written on the bumper.
  • Swastikas and other hate symbols spray-painted on Tesla vehicles: There have been numerous reports of Teslas being vandalized with spray-painted swastikas, the phrase "Hail Hitler", and other hate symbols, including those found at charging stations and dealerships.
  • Racist graffiti found on Tesla vehicles in production: A lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in 2023 alleged that racist graffiti, including swastikas and nooses, was found on vehicles rolling off the production line at Tesla's Fremont, California factory.
