Microsoft's Plans Threaten Windows TV Listings Provider pcworld.com

Another familiar sounding story here, standard Microsoft business practice and all that. The thrilling conclusion:

"Everybody who provides the listings pays for them. And they're not
cheap--six figures a year," Harkavy says. "Microsoft is going to provide this thing supposedly for free, but we know that's not going to last--after a year they're going to have to charge for it or throw out the service." As Harkavy sees it, "That's not a sustainable business practice. You come and you kill a market, and then you can do what you want with it."

Well, maybe. Or maybe it will be "free forever". Only time will tell.

Cheers, Dan.
