Trump knows making all iPhones in India is unrealistic... But you shoot for the moon first.
You are assuming that this was the plan all along. "Shoot for the moon," then declare victory when he achieves even half of what he was aiming for.

Besides, nothing you said explains why Trump said the following:
I said to him, ‘my friend, I treated you very good. You’re coming here with $500 billion, but now I hear you’re building all over India.’ I don’t want you building in India.
That's not "shooting for the moon." That's simply being unaware of reality. Trump really thought Tim Cook was going to divest away from India as well as China.

There is no grand plan, there is no 5-D chess, Bonefish. There is only a warped sense of reality, and you are doing your part in keeping it warped, because you can't admit the obvious.

Occam's Razor: Trump doesn't know WTF he's doing. That's the simplest explanation, and it's the best.
