There is a game of expectations management, the company will work analyst expectations down when it
knows they are too high for the current quarter. The adjustment process brings the stock price down prior to
earnings. Since the market punishes not meeting the number very hard, the number gets adjusted so that the actual earnings don’t look so bad.
