ProxyMed and IDX Systems Join in an Electronic Prescription Agreement

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- ProxyMed, Inc. PILL , a healthcare information technology company, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with IDX Systems Corp. IDXC to jointly develop and market automated prescription management tools for physicians. This agreement leverages ProxyMed's experience with health plans and pharmacies with IDX's expertise in clinical information systems to provide physicians with prescription management at the point of care. Through ProxyMed's secured national healthcare information network, ProxyNet, physicians using the IDXtendR(TM) Clinical Management System (CMS) can electronically submit prescriptions to pharmacies.

The ability to transmit pharmacy data electronically will increase the quality of care delivered to patients while saving physicians and their staff time," said Dr. Henry Tufo, MD, IDX chief operating officer.
