Well this is the status quo

  • “enabling greater shading when opaque"

Would dyed PDLC do this. I think of shading as lowering heat and PDLC, even darkened is as effective as SPD. But Gauzy has said its PDLC blocks heat.



My takeaway is that OEMs are recognizing the limitations of their current applications. When SPD hits mid-sized cars, I doubt PDLC smart roof will hold up as well.
