Nope A new law regulating property expropriation in South Africa came under immediate fire from US President Donald Trump last month when he accused the country’s government of illegally confiscating land from white farmers. Trump’s blast was thin on evidence but it reignited the emotive issue of farm murders in South Africa. A viral French post claimed that 60 white farmers are killed every day in South Africa, while English posts said 4,000 have been murdered since 2018. Farm attacks are a reality in crime-plagued South Africa but the figures in the claims have been exaggerated.
