Discretionary Investors Jump Back To Overweight Equity positioning climbed sharply this week and is now only modestly underweight. Our measure of equity positioning had one of its biggest increases on record this week and is now only modestly underweight (z score -0.30, 29th percentile). The move higher was led by a near vertical jump in the positioning of discretionary investors who are now overweight for the first time since late March (z score 0.37, 66th percentile). Systematic strategy positioning has continued to grind higher but has plenty of room to go further (z score -0.86, 16th percentile). In our reading, movements in discretionary investor positioning have been the key driver of equities recently.

Discretionary investor positioning is now in line with no slowing in earnings or GDP growth.
