SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Spending on information technology will soar to $1.3 trillion by 2000, making it the largest industrial sector in the country, a top Microsoft Corp. executive predicted Monday.
Chief Operating Officer Bob Herbold added the IT sector has grown 41 percent over the past six years to $1 billion in 1997. IT is the broad term referring to products and services that use technology to solve problems.

I guess DELL will get some of that. <gg>
