Is the glass half full or half empty?

For the last decade, a phosphorescent blue material represented upside. Absent the development of a commercial blue, the business could still grow with the overall OLED market. The stock has been flat since 2018 but significant pullbacks could be bought because the underlying business was durable and blue was an upside option.

That is no longer the case. UDC needs a commercial phosphorescent blue. The fact that BOE is using a phosphorescent green from Summer Sprout represents an existential threat to the company. Worse, we can't even track the progress or size of the threat since Summer Sprout is a private Chinese company.

I have bought UDC multiple times over the years when it reached close to 100 but I wasn't tempted this time. We need to have more clarity on blue or Summer Sprout for that price level to be a compelling risk/reward for me.
