I started walking without a walker on Sunday. I'm up to 1/4 mile but I still have to keep a measured pace to avoid limping. I still exercise indoors with stretching 5 times a day following instructions from home health agency PT and from hospital PT. Within the first four or five days after the surgery, my indoor walking, done both with a walker and without, was back up to the 2 hours a day which was my maximum prior to the operation. I get tired and slightly sore at the end of the day, but it all disappears after a night's sleep. My exercise routine before the hip problems was to walk the 4-5 miles of hilly paths near me. It probably will take 3 to 6 months to get back to that.

My A1c reached prediabetes level during the injury. I'm motivated to return to bring that back down.
