Although some of those traditional brands have some exotic watches where a lot of engineering went into them, in particular the aforementioned Behrens. behrenswatches.com The classical independents could be based in many places but most of the Behrens types are based in the Shenzhen area due to its concentration of precision machining and tooling capabilities that you know well. A lot of European brands source watch components from these Shenzhen companies and have for decades but few ever acknowledge it.
