hpeace,

Question, if DELL 'buys' into IT, won't it limit the ability of rapid change in market strategy when new technology is introduced? Under the current practice, DELL is able to keep inventory extremely low so that new technology is rapidly marketed. If DELL were to begin manufacturing of his own product, he would have to add the time that products are in the development and manufacturing phases, and of course build in quantities that are large enough to get the cost down! Add to that the possibility that if he were to be very successful, the possibilities of lawsuits that are brought alleging that he may have crossed the patent line!

I think DELL is right where he is supposed to be at this time, and the purchase of 'technology' manufacturing would be ill advised, IMHO.

Regards,

Ken
