I have somebody on ignore. I still see his posts, but they don't show up in my mailbox.

Unfortunately, turning the ignore feature on or off is site wide rather than thread specific. Switching it on or off, depending on the thread you're browsing (like this one), can be a nuisance, but that's the way it's set up. Someone might ask SI admin (Dima) if making ignore thread specific would be possible..
