Jay Leno’s Support Wasn’t Enough For California Classic Cars

California classic car enthusiast’s hopes have dropped since Jay Leno showed his support for a bill that would have completely eliminated smog checks for cars 35 years or older.

Earlier this spring, Leno backed the California Bill 712, which has also been called “Leno’s Law,” in hopes to exempt classic cars from smog checks indefinitely. The California State Senator even said Leno’s Law is a “commonsense measure” as the California Senate Transportation Committee pushed Leno’s Law forward in April, giving classic car enthusiasts even more hope for the law to pass unscathed.

The latest news on Leno’s Law/Bill SB 712 is disheartening. While the bill is moving to the senate floor, members of the state Senate Appropriations Committee made significant changes to the Bill. Word has it that certain anti-pollution and health groups got wind of the bill and influenced the Committee to make two major amendments...
