I should point out, though it was boring talking in small groups, which is to say to the already knowing and convinced, vs. going to a gathering and saying such things as we were saying pretty much lead to instant silence and total non comprehension by the listener... that dead face look.
I went to some book event where people I had not seen for a long time were also there and one of them came up to me to ask, what's going on? I said the same that was going on when I was at your house party 10 years ago. He says to me, I never forgot what you were saying, and each year I think how correct you are.
That was interesting.
Guess what? all of that talking in small groups and tiny spaces is now main stream and there for all to see. It's everywhere. We have no need to talk. Our need is to watch what open consideration of the law of numbers will create both chaos and darkest interregnum. I see nothing but reactionary useless tantrums.
and yet, calm people could come to a table and do a debt work out on the one hand, and a budget work out on the other, aka not a deficit one. better than complete systemic destruction from which there's no zero recovery. any good that's left, thrown out with the bad.. which is definitely the direction at the moment.
but our job is WAY more easy now. we need not struggle. only watch the movie and make our moves positionally as the earth-quakey landscape rolls and flops around like undulating mats of freshly laid sod.
sadly even if we win beyond are wildest bets on this score.. all around us may bring untold dangers, even mortal dangers. no solution for that yet.
during the bust in housing 2008... you could be a very thrifty someone, house paid in full, everything fine, but then you find out every fucking other house in your neighborhood was leveraged to the hilt plus more.
all those defaults. and your house went down with the rest. no fault of your judicious household budgeting.

I should have fucking taken every fucking loan I could get on it and had a shit load of fun on the way to filing a personal BK. just like all my neighbors.
