It's always good for us 'younger folks' to remember our youthful experiences. But your mentioning camping and the Pacific surf reminds me when we were fortunate enough to live in the wine region north of SF. Our daughter was a member of the local Girl Scout group, and the Scout Master took them overnight camping to Bodega Bay. The Scout Master selected this extra nice area of sand that had plenty of space for the girls to pitch their tents and have a smores roast for treats that night. Being typical pre-teen girls, they finally went to bed around midnight. Somewhere between 1 and 2 a clock the girls started screaming and fleeing their tents. Within minutes their area was about waist deep in water on the girls---seems the Scout Master was unaware their sand bar campsite was subject to the rising tides caused by the Pacific Ocean.

After this experience my daughter thinks a hotel less than it being a Marriott, as being camping.
