The market can and does often move to surprising new highs even as margin debt hits new highs, credit card debt goes nuts, IPO's on garbage stocks run higher on very limited profits, if any, for the companies, etc... etc.

So the market could go onto new highs. It just will do it without me.

Why?

First; I experienced a margin call myself attempting to catch falling knifes after the 2000 top.

It was not much fun. That turned me overly bearish and dangerously stupid for thinking an overvalued stock would have to correct.

So, eventually, I found myself in the uncomfortable position of holding a short position moving higher and higher against me. That too was awful.

The end result is I have learned to never trade on margin. I also will never short another stock no matter how sure I am that the company's prospects are doomed. WOLF for instance is a stock I have been warning people who read this thread to avoid for a long time.

Bottom line using the data provided to me by StockCharts.com and Briefing.com I have developed a system that reduces the risk of owning stocks to those periods that are defined by buying when the market is deeply oversold and essentially hated.

We had a lot of that going on after Liberation Day. So much so that the market could go much higher before we reach an ultimate top. If that is true it will do it mostly without me.

As you can tell from the mistakes I have already discussed I know I am completely fallible.

I also know this much. No one ever lost money taking a profit. There will always be another great opportunity in the future; Perhaps Quantum Computing Stocks. There will be another deep Bear Market that will scar countless investors worse than my previous mistakes have done to me.

Ultimately when we get that next awful Bear Market; It too will bottom after the fear about the future leads investors to flee stocks in droves. Ultimately that pessimism will lead to a very bright future for those who buy at the real bottom.
