Ah, OK.
Management is excellent at SIMO. They will always say stuff like "we will drive long term growth" and positive qualitative stuff and such, but when giving numbers (like the $250m in Q4 2025) they are always conservative.
They haven't missed their own "next quarter" sales guidance in over a decade.
They are not blowhards, if that's what you're asking. Management now is actually one guy - the CEO. There used to be a well regarded CFO, but he vanished after the SIMO-MXL deal collapsed. They said he's working on the arbitration with MXL, but hasn't been heard from since then. No idea what's up with him, and his replacement was a former director of investor relations at SIMO. Nice guy, but not of the caliber of the former CFO.
But the CEO is great. Not a blowhard. He's optimistic, but conservative with numerical guidance.
When they say they will get 60%+ market share in PCIe gen5 controllers for high end PCs, and 50%+ market share in PCIe gen5 controllers in mainstream PCs, over the next 2-3 years as gen5 controllers go mainstream in the PC eco-system, he's telling the truth (at least assuming reasonable developments), and not spewing BS. Unless some unforseen disaster occurs, they're going to deliver those numbers, and it could be more (an unforseen disaster for a competitor could occur....). |
