I define success in two stages here. 1. the existing clerical government gets removed. 2. a new stable government comes into power with democratic elections that the majority of Iranians support with no Israeli or US troops in Iran keeping the peace. Of course, there is likely going to be some tension and outbreaks in Iran early on after a new government comes to power. But the goal is to get out early on and let Iran police themselves. What went wrong in Iraq and Afghanistan is that the US overstayed its welcome and tried to play good cop. Israel has no intention in remaining in Iran once the monarchy is reestablished.
