Trump is in a big dilemma and it is not hard to figure why. He would like to go on the attack against Iran, but fears retaliation against US bases in the region.
I think Trump fears more than that. The U.S. military can handle any direct retaliation on bases.

Trump ran on the "no new wars" pledge. Much of his base still believes in it. Trump talks tough but in reality is very averse to long-term military action.

Anything that drags him into an Iraq-like quagmire is something he would want to avoid, and for good reason.

One thing is for sure, though. There won't be any "deals" made by Mr. aRt oF tHe dEaL, given that the last one fell apart.
