The Celebrity in the Family

My son, in LA, wanted a dog. I warned him that since he had a job it would be difficult to socialize a dog when he wasn't home. He's an adult, so he makes the final decision. He found out that the Universal Theme Park was ending a featured animal show and no longer needed some of their talent. The show runners gave him this dog, Buddy.

The purebred dog was extensively (and expensively) trained. Buddy's job at the theme park was as greeter. He would walk around the set as the audience arrived, stopping for guests to pet him and shake his paw. Buddy, the dog, was in some streaming shows. This picture shows his featured part in The Residence.

It's fun to bring Buddy to dog parks and breweries. At the dog park he will go up to the owners of other dogs, stop for a pet, try to shake their hand, and then chase or be chased around the park by the other dog(s). Then he will go up to the next dog owner and repeat the performance. Same thing at breweries, he will go up to tables and greet each person, unless he senses a fear of dogs in which case he will leave that person (usually small children) alone. He then returns to our table, answers the question "who's a good boy" and then picks another table to visit.
