Iraq, Syria and Libya - these countries were founded by the British in the last 100 years, all artificially created , consisting of various ethnicities with no national spirit and foundation.
Afghanistan was older, like 300 years old civilization and both Soviets and USA got fucked there so bad that , in the end, USSR collapsed. USA ran away and never looked back after losing trillions of dollars and thousands of soldiers in decades
Iran is 5200 year old civilization. Israel is 77 years old and USA is younger than Afghanistan
At this point, I think Trump realizes that it is not all about technology and military power when it comes to conventional war, especially if the country you are fighting is one of the oldest civilizations and has a very large difficult terrain
I am pretty sure Military strategists and experts have sat down with Trump and explained to him that this may be the ultimate pandora's box he is opening and can potentially turn US into USSR in Afghanistan.
Trump definitely did the right thing bombing Iran's nuclear facilities, but was very wise to retreat and say it was a one time event unless Iran retaliates.
What concerns me is that I think China and Russia would like the USA to get bogged down in Iran and they may provide Iran with their best assets to keep the USA attacking Iran. Russia cannot afford to do this, but China can - even though their economy would suffer as a result.
This is all about changing the balance of power in the world and Trump should exercise restraint. Let Israel carry on the war for a while, create more chaos in Iran and see if regime change results. If not, Israel should leave also and tend to their country. |
