his dog anxiously licking his face..... Damn! he thinks to himself as he settles down the dog. 'Down girl! Easy Ugly....its ok...good girl' he mutters. He shakes himself off, walks to the kitchen, pops a homebrew pours out two mugs and washes the bottle under the tap. He wacks down the first one before the ice can form over the top of the frozen mug and almost as an afterthought grabs the second one and walks back toward the fire. He slaps in a favorite 'culled' Who tape and turns up the bass. He picks up Zoe Oldenbourg's 'The World is not Enough' from the table and settles back to enjoy the siege of Antioch. Ugly settles at his feet and Stink, the cat, roused by the beating bass sees fit to climb to the back of the chair where he sits surveying the domain. All is quiet as another lion makes a fiasco of war and tens of thousands die in the process. His mind wanders momentarily and he finds himself staring at the torn book on the floor. He shakes his head sadly. Bad is bad he thinks to himself. That one even has a bitter after taste. Well let the gods be satisfied with his collections of Zoe and Tuckman he muses as he turns the page to some really neat descriptions of epidemics.
