I am also careful about sugar levels. I haven't used sugar for many years. I substitute stevia. Can't tell the difference.
And I eat mostly vegetables and sea food, and organic eggs.
And when I eat sweet things like oranges, I eat the whole orange for fber, and with fat or protein to slow the absorption. I don't eat naked carbs, or naked sweet anything. I try to eat over 30 grams of fiber a day, and start my day with a glass of metamucil, coffee and green tea. I put three green tea bags in a cup and sip it throughout the day.
IMO, plants are what prevents cancer, and heart disease, so I eat them as often as I can. Some times I just eat mixed greens raw.
Every morning I peel a whole orange, tangerine and lemon or lime and put them in a blender, add water and stevia. That way I get lots of fiber to slow down absorption, and I will drink it with my breakfast or lunch, and dinner which is usually some sort of protein like sea food, organic chicken, or eggs.
I only eat two meals a day. One at about 11 or 12, and one at 5 or 6. I start the day with a swim at the YMCA around 9, without eating. Come home and talk a walk, and then ride my stationary bike a bit to strengthen my legs and get some cardio.
I have both my hips and knees replaced, so I have a bit of a Frankenstein walk, and need to walk to help with my balance.
Then in the afternoon I drive to the local poker club to play no limit poker, against a lot of college kids:). I don't know where they get their money-lol?
At my age it is a full time job just staying alive :)! |
