Sadly, Musk is one of those who thinks safety precautions are a waste of time. Apparently, he didn't like the color of safety vests and banished them at one facility, if not others. I can kind of understand, I loathe bright colors. But I also understand the need.
Musk is almost certainly panicking. He has put together a house of cards, he tends to fund new companies with the old. Which is fine, as long as Tesla is chugging along. But Musk has a lot of balls in the air that depends on things going right. They need to go right because he is cosplaying Tony Stark and needs to pull tech rabbits out of the hat. Scratch that teflon too much and his meme status collapses. Tesla sheds 90% of its value and, unless Musk can pull a Trump and get the banks to bail him out, everything collapses.
I doubt if they will. The pieces of his empire are too valuable. Now it is true that they gained their value because of Musk, except maybe for X. But they have a lot of value without Musk at this time. And might even be worth much more.
And nothing is going right at the moment. At all. Even his AI startup is having problems, not the least of which powering the damn thing with illegal generators is going to spark real problems sooner or later. Granted, it is in a poor area, but even then...
I am sure that SpaceX is working under the whip. Four straight failures in a row. Now the first is excusable, that happens. But it looks like the same or very similar problem happened twice more. That is hard to excuse, especially given the compressed time period between launches. The last seems to be a COPV failure. Which, if you know much about them, you wonder why it doesn't happen more often. Now I am assuming it went through tests before final assembly. Skipping those tests...
He needs victories. The more spectacular, the better. But he has people working for him, not robots and computers. Even with them, you push them too hard and they break. But you can easily replace those with identical skills and capabilities. Not so much with people. Not everyone can go for days, fueled by Adderall and ketamine. Even Musk can't, but he does give 110%. |
