Like many here I have followed SRPT for a long time. Several timesI have been tempted to buy in but never did. At times I have regretted not doing so and other times I have been thankful I resisted the temptation. Right now a share price of 10 does not seem so unreasonable to me. Some negative facts are piling up on SRPT. The biotech sector has been in the ditch for some time now and the chaos at the FDA is not helping it get out. Speaking of the FDA, it seems like some people — or at least one person — who have been hostile to SRPT are now in a key position at the agency which adds considerable risk to the future of their approved drug. On top of all of that, they have had 2 patient die in FDA trials. Even if those deaths can be explained away as unsurprising given the poor health of those 2 patients, the pr impact of deaths in trials and the subsequent halting of the administration of that drug to non-ambulatory patients is a serious negative that the markets can’t ignore. All of this weighs very heavily on the share price and it’s hard not to conclude that the recent decline is justified. With the current version of the FDA now investigating these recent deaths I am not optimistic that good news will be forthcoming any time soon. The contrarian in me whispers that therefore now is a good time to buy; the old retired guy in me shouts no.
