I believe that the only type of investment that is not a gamble is the sort that Milken did with bonds. He believed that if your analysis was right, one could be sure of returns. The problem with stocks is that even with correct analysis the market could make you wrong. I know I've owned cos that met forecasts not only over the short term but over a couple of years that still went down.
