A few years back, mostly during the Covid period - I subscribed to the work of Robert Balan - whom I link here from time to time.

For a couple of years, virtually at all times, I had futures contracts in my account. It wasn’t easy - Robert is based in Europe - and it wasn’t unusual for him to start posting at 4 am, or even earlier. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I wasn’t learning enough - and the money wasn’t enough to justify the lifestyle, time and energy that it took. Maybe it was an age thing.

As far as learning - I think the deal is that Robert is a trading genius. This came first (imo) - and the reasoning for trades would come later. So, I bowed out. He wrote to me asking why - and a gave my explanations. It was a friendly departure. I still like reading some of his stuff.

Anyway… Jay Kaeppel reminded me about this with his musings about futures trading.

Looks like there may be a decent trade in Coffee setting up, on the long side:
