I flew to Brazil with my boy last November. Excited about the trip, I didn't take my stash of medicine.
Like anti fever, antibiotics, ear medicine.
As soon as I landed in Curitiba I got a dry cough I thought would have been dry air and long flight.
Next day I started feeling bad.

My friend who was hosting us took me to SUS, there is one in very district. They entered me into their system.
Triage. And then doctor called me.
She said lungs are clear. Rest and take a 5-day course of Azithromycin. In 3 days you will start feeling better. All standard procedures.

The 3rd day came with me with sweating, with an ear infection purging.
Back to SUS. The dr. told me, oxygen was low. right lung with pneumonia,
They took me to a room, oxygen piping from the wall.
Drip
and a inhaler every 20 minutes for an hour.
One and half our dr. return.
Oxygen improved. old me to finish the course of Azithromycin and gave me another anti-biotic Augmentin, which I dislike since it make your stomach and gut suffer.

Overall it took 11 days out of our 21 days trip.

Next I got - and paid- for a Pneumovax 23 Pneumonia vaccine.
She gave as well an anti-flu shot, these are free.
