Tommaso, this used to be modern physics around 40 years ago. (High-energy physics nowadays concentrates on energies which are many orders of magnitude larger). Anyway, physics is very diverse, and I'm not dealing with this stuff at all. I'm dealing with stuff many orders of magnitude less. But it is absolutely obvious that gold cannot be commercially produced using these methods. The desire was quite a drive for people centuries ago (alchemy), though.
