I'm good, thanks! In the Equatorial zone there are 3 Flu seasons:
- February-March.
- June-July
- November- December.
It works like clockwork. You may miss 2 of them, at least one catches you. You can even catch all 3 !
I didn't have the flu February-March. June-July 2024 and I lowered my guard.
In Southern Brazil, you have 2 Flu seasons:
- One in the Winter June-July
- Another in the Summer November - December - January
There they offer free flu shots in the Autumn (April)and its is valid for 1 year
INFLUVAC TETRA also known as a quadrivalent influenza vaccine. INFLUVAC TETRA is used to prevent certain types of influenza (commonly called the flu) and can be used in adults and children 6 months of age and older.
This year I haven't got any Flu February-March. Let's see how it goes.
As I am 72 years old the nurse told me I should get an RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) this year.
I looked it up they vaccines are available to protect individuals, especially infants and older adults, from severe RSV infections, which can cause serious respiratory illnesses. Two RSV vaccines are currently available for adults aged 60 and older, with a single dose recommended.
RSV vaccines are not offered free, and she told it is not exactly cheap, but she said this one is the real deal For older adults, vaccines have shown high effectiveness in preventing RSV-related lower respiratory tract disease and severe disease, with some real-world studies showing around 75-80% effectiveness in preventing infections, urgent care visits, and hospitalizations, according to JAMA and CIDRAP. |
